Rila Fukushima is a Japanese fashion model currently residing in New York City. Originally attempting to secure a position as a model agent at a Tokyo agency, she was persuaded to try modelling instead. Her early career in Tokyo consisted of bookings for various commercial and editorial clients, but the surprise direct booking for the S/S 2004 D&G campaign advanced her career to an international level. Since then she has gone on to work with a multitude of labels and brands in various print and motion media advertising campaigns. Fukushima is represented by Trump Models in New York, Marilyn in Paris and Bon Image in Tokyo. In 2008, she began to contribute as a creative director and buyer for I Don't Like Mondays, an online fashion boutique shop. Fukushima has also appeared in several music videos, notably in Lenny Kravitz's "Where Are We Runnin'" and Ben Taylor's "Wicked Way" videos. She recently starred in a music video titled "World's End" directed by NYC-based artist Bruno Levy, with music by Deantoni Parks. Fukushima turned her attention to acting and appeared in her first dramatic role playing Rei in Singaporean photographer and filmmaker, Kevin Foong's latest short film, Karma: A Very Twisted Love Story alongside Japanese actor Micah Kaneko.
